Seniors of CPS: Alexis S.

Alexis S., Senior– Interview conducted by Araddhya Tibrewall

April 17, 2023: We’re sitting under the shade of the Latin Club trees. It’s a nice big fat normal day. I click record. “Welcome, Alexis." The interview has begun...

Araddhya:

Hi Alexis.

Alexis:

Hello.

Araddhya:

What’s up?

Alexis:

Not much. Just trying to survive the rest of senior year.

Araddhya:

For real. If you could only choose one song to play every time you walked into a room for the rest of your life, which song would you choose?

Alexis:

Oh my god. I knew this question was coming, but I still have not prepared an answer. Oh my gosh, okay. I don’t know. Probably something Taylor Swift just because I feel that’s pretty iconic. I’m pretty bad about hype music—everything I listen to is too mellow to be entrance music, so yeah…

Araddhya:

What is something unique about you that your classmates might not know?

Alexis:

Well let’s see. Hm…I forget what people know about me and what people don’t. Okay. I played piano for 9 years. That’s not unique in the scheme of CPS things. I kind of stopped during the pandemic, so I never got, you know, to play for people. But I do kinda wish I had continued!

Araddhya:

Looking back at your experience at CPS, what is something that you will never forget? This can be a specific memory, intraterm, a conversation, a class…

Alexis:

I’m gonna say something drama-related.

Araddhya:

You have to.

Alexis:

Because I’ve spent way too much time in that program. Well let’s see, just fooling around with Mamma Mia. Oh, oh, oh, I know actually. In Frankenstein, we were so on top of our things that we actually had time to do silly run throughs, and so we did. We would do a speed through, but then Molly would call out different genres, and we had to act the play, but in that genre. So Molly calls out telenovela, and Camille and Liam just start yelling at each other in Spanish, which is very impressive. But then I was playing like a 10 year old, and Camile was a 3-year old and playing creepy creature, and Molly called out “inappropriate romance” and you can guess how it went from there.

Araddhya:

What are you looking forward to in the future? This can be college, your summer, you last few weeks here…

Alexis:

I’m looking forward to the summer, because I’ll be going on trips with friends. But also college, because I’m really excited, because I’m going to an art program—it’ll be so different from CPS, but, like, I still think it’ll be super fun, and I’ll get to do what I love.

Araddhya:

Last question, have fun with it—if you could say thank you to one room at CPS, what would it be?

Alexis:

The auditorium. I have spent a lot of time in there. And it is a janky dusty old room sometimes, but it has so many memories. There are so many silly things that have happened in there that are a part of that room. So yeah. Probably the auditorium.

Araddhya:

Thanks Alexis.

Alexis:

Thank you.
