Three Josh O’Connor Movies to Watch
By Jaeda N. '27 Amidst the output of new movies and TV shows, one actor’s name crops up seemingly everywhere: Josh O’Connor. A 35-year-old English actor with an oeuvre encompassing everything from The Crown to Challengers to Jane Austen’s Emma , he has gained prominence, as well as critical acclaim, for his versatility and his magnetism. Recently, he’s hosted “Saturday Night Live” and starred in four notable movies released last year. In fact, he was so ubiquitous last fall

Why the Stranger Things Ending Felt Symbolic
By Meda Borghei ‘27 WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS Season 5 of Stranger Things was full of plot holes and bad acting and dialogue so poorly written that even the actors were probably cringing. But none of that really mattered. What mattered was that it was the last season. I started watching the show in 6th grade, and I was immediately obsessed. By Meda B. '27 “I don’t know what could be worse than Portland …You don’t even have stores anymore.” –Donald Trump, October 8, 2025. I was very concerned when I heard this. No stores in Portland? In 2023 I was wandering blithely and innocently in the streets of Portland, unaware that in just a few short years, the President would send the National Guard into the “war-ravaged” city because of the apparent lack of stores. I should have stocked up on overpriced granola and secon

Student Reflections on Daylight Saving Time
By Jaeda N. ‘28 Signals of autumn are all around us as falling leaves, brisk mornings, and Halloween decorations abound. These seasonal markers serve as reminders that soon, on November 2, we will need to reset our clocks to “fall back” in accordance with the end of daylight saving time (DST). The practice of having biannual time shifts is contentious, with both ardent defenders and strong critics. DST has been around since 1918, when it was inaugurated in order to extend wo
