Interview conducted by Elsa C.

Elsa: Okay, let's start with the rapid-fire questions! Gym deck or Student Commons?
Aurora: Gym deck.
Elsa: Favorite Trader Joe's snack?
Aurora: Oh, those pumpkin Joe’s O’s that are really good.
Elsa: Freshman physics or Asian worlds?
Aurora: Freshman physics for sure. Love Ms. Stanton.
Elsa: Favorite Bathroom?
Aurora: Oh, the new one under Hill. It's like, really fancy, like a museum bathroom.
Elsa: Ok, now I have deep questions. You can talk a little more about these. What's something not a lot of people at CPS know about you? Like a hobby or secret talent?
Aurora: Not a lot of people know that I'm a twin. I tell people, and they're very surprised, because she doesn't go to this school. So that's a big thing I'd say.
Elsa: Okay! What's been your favorite CPS class and why?
Aurora: I really liked…this is a hard question. I really liked Math 2, which I know is an unpopular opinion, but I really like spatial stuff and doing geometry and just being able to imagine the math so much was really fun for me. It was also a really great class.
Elsa: I like Math 2 too!
Aurora: Yay! Yeah, I'm glad it's not just me.
Elsa: Where do you see yourself in five years?
Aurora: I'm not much of a thinking-into-the-future person, but in five years, I think I'd like to still be in California. I want to have a garden. I want to have, like, wherever I'm living, I want to have a garden and be able to grow some of my own fruits and vegetables. That would be fun. And then, career-wise, I'd like to be in some sort of science field. Maybe I'd still be in school, doing more learning.
Elsa: What's one of your favorite CPS memories?
Aurora: I remember during finals, I think last spring it would have been, me and my friends, we drove down to College and got açai bowls, and we laid in the sun with a picnic blanket by the statue. And that was just very… It was great. I think it was right after finals ended, so we were feeling really good, free for the break. And yeah, it was just a carefree moment.
Elsa: Okay! If you could give advice to your freshman-year self, what would it be?
Aurora: Really to take advantage of the opportunities that this will give you, like going to [the] most random club meetings or signing up for new sports, that type of thing. I think that you don't get that in many places like you do here. And just taking advantage of those opportunities, I found all sorts of new interests and hobbies that I never would have if I hadn’t branched out.
Elsa: Last official class question: If you were to say thank you to one room at CPS, which one would it be?
Aurora: A room?
Elsa: Yes.
Aurora: Hm. I would say the Spanish classroom. Hill 12, I think it is. It's always such a good temperature. And I love that (laughs).
Elsa: An unofficial question, do you like JELL-O?
Aurora: Oh, no.
Elsa: I brought JELL-O if you wanted some.
Aurora: Oh, thank you. I can't eat it actually.
Elsa: Oh, no, it’s okay, thank you so much!
