Surina: Hey Hana, how are you?

Hana: I'm good Surina. How are you?

Surina: I'm doing pretty well. Are you ready to get started on your interview?

Hana: Yeah, let’s get started.

Surina: Okay, so we're gonna start with rapid Fire Questions. First, what's your favorite Trader Joe's snack?

Hana: I'd say kind of an underground Trader Joe's snack that I like is the popcorn with the herbs and spices, because I've eaten that my whole life, and now it's just like associated with a good memory, and it tastes really good.

Surina: Mmm, I'm gonna have to try that one. Next question: Gym Deck or student commons?

Hana: Student comments for sure! I don't think I spend much time on the gym deck, but since junior year, we were allowed to claim the student comments, so now that's my hangout spot.

Surina: Nice. And what's your go-to karaoke song?

Hana: I'd say “Unwritten” by Natasha Beddingfield. Because I feel like that's a good song to sing to in the tennis vans.

Surina: Yeah, that's a good sing-along song! Now it’s time for some longer response questions. What's something that not a lot of people know about you?

Hana: I'd say something that not a lot of people know about me is that I've actually dabbled in a lot of different sports growing up. For instance, I did ballet, figure skating, horseback riding (specifically English Jumping), soccer, swimming, and now I’ve settled on tennis, which is the most fun sport out of all of them, in my opinion.

Surina: Wow, that's quite a lot of different sports. Super cool! If you could say thank you to one place on campus, what would it be?

Hana: I'd say the College Prep courtyard, especially the steps right there. I always sit on there with my friends at assembly ever since freshman year. Also, I’m there during free periods. Like, afternoon free periods on those steps in the courtyard is such a nice time because it's such a pretty campus! It’s so relaxing and you can lie down too.

Surina: Yeah, it's definitely a nice spot to enjoy the campus. What's one of your favorite CPS memories?

Hana: There are a lot of great memories. This is a hard question to answer. I'd say, one of the most memorable ones was the first Iftar last year, when it started raining, and so we had to move everything inside the auditorium. And so coordinating that and the chaos of it all was super fun looking back on it! Also, just seeing a ton of faculty and friends and people show up to hang out, eat food, and support the Muslim Student Association was really cool.

Surina: Super cool! And last question, where do you see yourself in five years?

Hana: So five years . . . I'd probably finish undergrad—hopefully [laughs]. And then either starting grad school, like a PhD or med school, I don't know yet. Hopefully, I would still be in contact with my high school friends, but then also have made a lot of college friends. I would be coming back to see family every now and then. And I see myself being happy with my journey!

Surina: Awesome, that’s a wrap. Thanks, Hana!

Hana: See you around!
