Interview conducted by Jessie H.
November 13th, 2025, the rain sprinkles down as Chris and I find a dry bench in front of the Student Commons…The interview begins.
Jessie: Hi Chris, welcome to your Seniors of CPS interview!
Chris: Thank you.
Jessie: We’re gonna start with some rapid-fire questions and then go on to some longer response ones. First, go-to karaoke song?
Chris: Ooh…uh, maybe “Wonderwall”? I’m not sure.
Jessie: Hmm, I don’t think I’ve heard of that one. Who’s it by?
Chris: I don’t even know — it’s an old song. Laughs I don’t do karaoke, though. All the songs I listen to aren’t very singable in public, so…
Jessie: Got you. Okay, favorite Trader Joe’s snack?
Chris: Oh, probably just Takis — or actually, they have a really good pumpkin pie.
Jessie: Hmm, like the full big pies?
Chris: Yeah.
Jessie: Okay, I’m gonna have to check that out. Here’s a good one — best way to spend a rainy day?
Chris: Ooh… I mean-
Jessie: It’s really good for right now.
Chris: Yeah. Either out doing something and just, like, send it and get wet and just have fun, or just straight indoors playing a video game.
Jessie: Nice! Any food, like comfort foods, that you eat on a rainy day?
Chris: Uh, chicken noodle soup.
Jessie: That’s a good choice. Okay, we can do one more: one item on your bucket list?
Chris: I want to go to Japan, because I’ve heard great things about it and I love the food.
Jessie: Yeah, that sounds pretty cool! Okay, now we’re gonna transition to some longer response questions. What’s one of your favorite CPS memories?
Chris: I guess…like, sophomore retreat was pretty cool — like, on the rafts. I mean, it was very, very cold, so I don’t think anyone had a good time.
Jessie: Oh, I heard about your year — that weather.
Chris: Laughs Yeah, but that’s what kinda made it fun because everyone was freezing their butt off, and it was kind of a bonding experience, I guess. Yeah, the entire experience was just fun. But I know some people didn’t like the rafting part.
Jessie: Really? I think I’ve heard pretty much all good things about the rafting.
Chris: Yeah, and I agree — everyone was so cool, the weather was the only thing.
Jessie: Of course. Okay, next: where do you see yourself in five years?
Chris: In five years…I actually don’t really know. I don’t really know exactly what I’m going to do in college. But I play golf, so I’m gonna play golf in college for sure.
Jessie: Nice!
Chris: I don’t know if I really want to go pro, but that’s still an option. I just gotta figure out my major.
Jessie: That’s alright — it’s okay not to know.
Chris: Yeah.
Jessie: And last one: if you could give advice to your freshman self, what would it be?
Chris: It would be to do more stuff with my friends, because I think freshman year especially I was very work-heavy.
Jessie: I see.
Chris: Which wasn’t bad — academically I did well — but I wish I spent more time getting to know everybody else. I don’t think I needed to spend as much time as I did on school and golf and other stuff, so…yeah.
Jessie: That’s really good advice. Thank you so much!
Chris: Thanks!
