Junior Research Paper Debacle: Page Length Crisis

In an unprecedented moment, members of the History Department nearly came to fisticuffs over the great page-length debate for the junior history paper, which centered around the question of whether ~3500 words equals six pages, or seven.

“Six?” Dr. Casimir-Kang apparently asked skeptically when DSong amicably offered the idea that the minimum word count equaled seven. “NO: SEVEN,” DSong was reported to have responded, waving his hands in a horizontal motion while Casimir-Kang mirrored his motion, looking quizzical.

The situation escalated rapidly, with the instructors allegedly tearing sheets of paper from their legal pads, crumpling them, and tossing them at each other in alternating volleys of six and seven. The only words that could be heard by shocked onlookers included, “Six!” “No, seven!” and, when confronted, the gentlemen simply shrugged, extending their hands, but refused to amend their stances.

The situation was, happily, defused when department members Grace Allen and Adrianne Francisco appeared on the scene carrying giant cardboard cut-outs of the numbers “8” and “9,” effectively neutralizing the situation. In the background, Math Department members Minh Nguyen and Margot Schou looked on in bafflement.
